Gemstone & Pearl Jewelry Crafted One Piece at a Time by
Designer LisaKay Torok
Subtle beauty, just a flash of light,
a hint of complexity. That
is what I see when I look at this collection of Swarovski crystal and
chainmaille designs. Sterling silver links swirled in classic
chain designs with just a spark of the fire for which Swarovski is known.
This group features "Bermuda
Blue" crystals from Swarovski. The reason you see two different
colors in the scans is because there is a vitrail coating on half of the
bead. This causes the color to move from a translucent blue as clear
as the water for which it is named to a deep, mysterious black/blue!
It is a mesmerizing contrast. Both the necklace and the bracelet
incorporate the chainmaille weave known as "Byzantine." This
complicated weave gives the sterling silver the appearance of lace.
Swarovski Fire Opal is another miracle of famed
Austrian crystal giant. The color moves from red to yellow with subtle
highlights of orange in the mix. Choose the lasso style lariat with
teardrop pendant and Byzantine chainmaille flower detail for $58. The
bracelet combines chainmaille flowers with a double link frame around the
central bead, price $60. The earrings incorporate links and fire opal
crystals in a stunning but simple arrangement for $24.
Swarovski Vitrail Medium is a crystal with many personalities!
Although it is a clear crystal with all the beauty and refraction of any
Swarovski product, the medium vitrail coating on one half of the crystal
causes the light to play in ways I can't describe. Now it is pink,
now green, now
purple-yellow. I have a friend who owns the necklace pictured here
and when she wears it, I just can't stop looking at her neck!
(Confession is good for the soul.) Wear this crystal only if you
want to be noticed!! The Japanese chain mail centerpiece is formed
with doubled large links fastened together with doubled small links.
It has a substantial feel that is perfectly complimented by the medium
vitrail pendant. But, if you are a bit more shy, the necklace can
have a more subtle piece of crystal. All you have to do is ask!
